Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A snake catcher was called to an Australian home to remove a 5-foot-long venomous serpent found in an unusual position -- wrapped around the Christmas tree.

Raymond Hoser, aka Snakeman, posted a video to YouTube on Monday showing what happened when he was called to a Melbourne home.

The video shows Hoser asking where the snake is, and a chorus of children respond that its in the Christmas tree.

Hoser said the red-bellied black snake likely found its way inside and then climbed the tree to protect itself from the kids and the family's small dog.

"For the children, the venomous reptile made this a party to remember," the YouTube post said.

The video shows Hoser carefully capture the snake with his bare hands.

"He successfully managed to keep both snake and children safe," the video's description reads.
