Dec. 20 (UPI) -- A Colorado sheriff trying to sell his personal vehicle on Craigslist ended up making two arrests when potential buyers attempted to pay with "black market" marijuana.

Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell said he posted a Craigslist ad to sell his old car and one potential buyer, Shawn Langley, 39, responded to the ad and offered to pay with four pounds of "home grown black-market" marijuana instead of cash.

Langley, unaware that Mikesell was the sheriff, sent photos of the marijuana via text message, the sheriff's office said.

Mikesell had undercover detectives meet with Langley, who showed up with another person, Jane Cravens, and two large bags of marijuana.

Langley and Cravens were arrested and the marijuana was seized.

Mikesell said his department is currently working to crack down on illegal marijuana growers.
