Dec. 18 (UPI) -- An owl spotted trapped in the front grill of a parked car was rescued by a trio of witnesses, which included a veterinarian.

A witness captured video Wednesday when they stopped in a Northfield, N.J., parking lot to rescue an owl they spotted trapped in the front grill of a parked car.

"I parked my truck and tried to free it but it was too tight," the filmer wrote. "A passerby tried to help me but it was still wedged too tight."

The person said a third witness soon arrived with a box and a towel.

"Between the three of us, we were able to pull apart the plastic and free the owl. It turns out that the third person was a local veterinarian," the filmer wrote.

They wrote the owl was taken to Tri-state Bird and Rescue to be treated for shock and a broken wing.

"The latest update I have is that he underwent surgery this morning for a broken shoulder and is expected to survive," they said.
