Koala perches atop sign to greet tourists in South Australia

Dec. 14 (UPI) -- An Australian tour guide snapped a well-timed photo of a koala that somehow managed to climb to the top of a tall sign.

Xplore Eyre by Australian Wildlife Adventures posted a photo to Facebook that was snapped by tour guide Sandy Clusac while she was leading a group of tourists on a sightseeing adventure near the Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary, on the Eyre Peninsula.

The photo shows a koala perched happily at the top of the sign.

"Could there be a cuter way to welcome people to Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula? Our tour happened to pass this little guy who clearly had his own plan to take on the sea lions and sharks, and become the new face of South Australian Tourism!" the post says.

Craig "Hassie" Haslem, owner of Australia Wildlife Adventures, said Clusac sent him the photo,

"Sandy texted me as soon as she saw it at," Haslem told The Advertiser. "They went back a little bit later to try and take a better photo of it but it had scarpered. I still don't know how it managed to get up there but they do have some pretty mean claws on them."
