Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Police in Tokyo said more than two dozen reported monkey sightings in the city are all believed to be the same primate on the loose. The Metropolitan Police Department said only one monkey, described by witnesses as about 28 inches long, is believed to be behind the sightings, which began Dec. 5 in the Ota Ward. Advertisement Numerous sightings were reported Tuesday in the Shibamata district, but capture attempts were unsuccessful despite help from police officers with nets. Police said the monkey was chased by about 20 people bearing nets when it was spotted wandering into the Heiwajima park on Wednesday afternoon, but the simian managed to give its pursuers the slip. Police said the monkey had earlier been spotted across the Tamagawa river in Kawasaki.
