Dec. 12 (UPI) -- A British family said their string of Christmas tree lights has been used annually for 48 years without a single bulb being replaced.

Ross Shaddick, 38, said his mother, Vina, 68, was a teenager when she bought the fairy lights from Woolworths in 1969.

Shaddick said the lights are now adorning the tree at his home in Plymouth, England.

The family said the lights are believed to be the oldest in Britain to be continually used each Christmas season without replacing any bulbs.
