Koala perches on home's back door, growls at dog

Dec. 11 (UPI) -- An Australian man captured video of a koala that wandered up to his back door and warded off the family's dog with a well-placed growl.

Jay Peel captured video Friday when the koala wandered up to his Portland, Victoria, home.

The marsupial attempted unsuccessfully to climb a wall and growled at the family dog when it wandered too close.

The koala eventually climbed up on the back door, where Peel's wife, Alice, said it remained into the early hours Saturday.

"He was still hanging on our door at 1 a.m. when we went to bed but was gone in the morning," she said. "He was there for a few hours but quite happy to be there."
