Dec. 8 (UPI) -- A Florida sheriff's deputy rendered assistance to a reptilian resident when he spotted a baby alligator attempting to cross a busy road.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office posted a video to Twitter showing Deputy Herrera escorting the alligator across a Lakeland road while offering some encouragement to the "little guy."

The alligator makes it safely to the other side and disappears into the bushes.

"How did the baby gator cross the road? With the assistance of Deputy Herrera of course!" the tweet said. "We are a full-service law enforcement agency."
