Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Authorities in Oregon said a Porsche stolen nearly 27 years ago was found this week by a hiker at the bottom of a steep embankment.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said a man contacted dispatch at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday and reported the discovery of an overturned vehicle at the base of a cliff off Abbott Prairie Road in Trail.

Detectives probed the scene and determined initial reports of human remains at the scene were the result of nearby deer bones. No actual human remains were found.

The sheriff's office said the 1979 Porsche 924 coupe bore registration tags that expired in 1991. An investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from the parking lot of the Southside Cinema in Medford on Jan. 20, 1991.

Investigators said the position of the vehicle makes removal efforts complicated and officials are looking into options.
