Deer slides through hallway of Mississippi school

Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Security cameras at a Mississippi school captured the moment a confused deer dashed in through an open door and slid down a hallway with students present.

The footage, recorded Wednesday morning at Enterprise Middle School, shows the deer run into the school behind a student and slip on the floor while running down a hallway.

The deer eventually exited without inflicting damage on the building.

"Because the students are going in and out, the doors are open that time of morning. I think it got startled by some kids and it tried to escape and found that the easiest way," Principal Marlon Brannon told WTOK-TV.

"I jokingly said, 'we even have wild animals trying enroll here just because our school district is so good," Brannon said.

Steven Gunn, principal of the nearby Enterprise Elementary School, said it was an unusual incident.

"It was pretty hilarious to see how the students responded and the funny expressions on people's faces. I've been the principal at this school for 10 years and it's never happened before," Gunn said.

No children were injured during the incident. The deer was last seen running into the woods.
