Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Seattle police are trying to find the owner of a 4-foot python found slithering in a family's toilet by a young girl.

The Seattle Police Department said a young girl alerted her family Friday to the trespassing serpent inside the toilet at their home in the Lake City area of Seattle.

"Officers worked with the family and apartment complex residents to remove the snake and keep it safe until someone from the Pacific Northwest Herpetological Society could come and claim it," the department said.

Police said the snake, believed to be an escaped pet, is being kept by the herpetological society until its owner can be located.

"It is unknown if this snake is fond of nougat," police said.
