Nov. 16 (UPI) -- New Zealand police pulled over a man this week because he was driving while playing the bagpipes.

"The driver didn't have their hands on the wheel at the time, and he was clearly playing the instrument while driving the car," Acting Sergeant Bryce Johnson said, according to the New Zealand Herald.

"His fingers were going a million miles an hour," Johnson added, according to Stuff.co.nz.

However, the driver denied the allegations and said he was only playing the air bagpipes.

But Johnson said that he was certain he saw "a black-type instrument, which looked like a clarinet."

The driver was let off without a warning.

Johnson said police were on the lookout for people driving while using their mobile phones.

''We are also concerned with the amount of drivers using mobile phones while driving," he said. ''Neither of these things are a good idea."
