California drivers told to 'breathe' with positive road signs

Nov. 16 (UPI) -- A street artist is trying to bring some upbeat vibes to a Los Angeles suburb by posting a series of road signs bearing positive messages.

Scott Froschauer, whose "Word on the Street" installation is backed by the Glendale Library, Arts and Culture Department, created 20 messages in the style of road signs and posted them around the city of Glendale.

The signs bear positive messages such as "relax," "breathe," "do your best" and "grow."

"The main visual language in street signs is traditionally negative," Froschauer told the Los Angeles Times. "The project is about imagining how would we give reassuring language in the place of negative language."

Froschauer's website includes a map of all of the signs' locations, which he said were chosen in consultation with city officials,
