Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Nov. 15 (UPI) -- An American Airlines flight that struck a bird over South Florida drew attention when it landed with the deceased avian still attached to the plane's nose. Witnesses said American Airlines Flight 1498 from Mexico City struck a bird about 11 a.m. Tuesday, just moments before landing at Miami International Airport. Advertisement Photos taken when the plane was on the tarmac show the bird still embedded in the dented nose of the plane. Officials said the plane landed without issues and there were no injuries from the incident. An American Airlines employee said it was a unique event. "It is true that we deal with bird strikes, that does happen, but never like this," the employee, who was not named, told WPLG-TV. The plane was taken to a maintenance area for assessment and was replaced by another aircraft for upcoming flights.
