Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles filmmaker seeking to help his fiancee sell her 1996 Honda Accord made a professional-seeming commercial that quickly went viral.
The video, uploaded to YouTube by Max Lanman, features images and narration in the style of a typical car commercial.
"You don't need things. You're happy with who you are," the narrator intones. "Luxury is a state of mind."
Text that accompanies images of the car driving through scenic areas list off the used vehicle's stats, including the 141,000 miles on its odometer.
The commercial initially helped the eBay auction for the car, which started at $499, reach a high bid of $150,000, but the auction was canceled by eBay's fraud department and the site asked that the auction be restarted.
"We were told that someone from their fraud department, who was unaware of the commercial / story, could not believe that a 1996 Honda Accord was going for $150,000 and ended the auction. Per Ebay's request, we have restarted the auction back at its original starting price of $499. We will have more updates later today," Lanman wrote on YouTube.
He said the commercial was meant to be a funny way to promote the car auction.
"It dawned on me that it would be really funny to film a car commercial for a really crappy car against such a gorgeous backdrop," Lanman told the BBC.
