Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A Virginia man who won a $100,000 lottery jackpot said he was oblivious for more than a week after leaving his ticket in a drawer.

Lamonte Banks told Virginia Lottery officials he bought a Cash 5 ticket for the daytime Oct. 12 drawing with the numbers 5-12-16-22-28.

Banks said he put the ticket in a drawer, where it remained forgotten for more than a week.

"It was just sitting in my drawer until two days ago," Banks said.

He said he was shocked when he found the ticket and checked the numbers.

"It's unbelievable!" Banks said. "Did this really happen?"

Banks said he plans to use his newfound wealth to pay off his student loans.
