Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Wildlife rescuers in Australia hoisted a soggy kangaroo out of a reservoir after it jumped into the water while trying to evade capture.

The Warriors 4 Wildlife rescue group said in a Facebook post that volunteers were called to Yarra Glen in Victoria to try to capture a kangaroo that appeared injured.

The kangaroo fled rescuers by jumping into the Sugarloaf Reservoir, but they were able to go out in a boat and hoist the wet marsupial out of the water.

"Thank you to everyone who helped rescue this kangaroo trapped in Sugarloaf Reservoir. She decided to try and escape from us by jumping into the water, we are now making sure she is warm and well cared for until she is ready to be released back home," the group said.

The group said the kangaroo was being treated for hypothermia, myopathy, and wearing on her tail and the pads of her feet.
