"The bat really scared the couple at first and they thought that someone was playing a Halloween trick on them!" Wright said. "But it would seem that the bat may have just found his way into the corridor and couldn't find his way out."
The couple attempted to open a window to let the bat out, but the frightened creature instead decided to take refuge inside a light fixture.
Wright got up on a chair where she found the tiny bat curled up underneath the light bulb as she devised a creative plan to set it free.
"It's very lucky they saw him go in there as he wouldn't have been able to get back outside otherwise, and nobody would know he was there," Wright said. "I borrowed a spoon from the couple to gently scoop him out, as there was no other way to reach him."
Once the bat was safely removed from the light shade Wright inspected it to make sure it wasn't injured before setting it free.
"I took him outside and released him," she said. "He flew a circle around me before flying away, which I'd like to think was his way of saying 'thank you.'"
