Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A total 972 people donned penguin costumes at an Ohio university to break a Guinness World Record for a gathering of people dressed as the dapper birds.
Youngstown State University said the group of students, alumni and community members gathered Saturday at the Watson and Tressel Training Site to put on penguin costumes for the world record attempt.
The school said its attempt bested a London gathering of 624 penguins in 2015, organized by Richard House Children's Hospice.
"I'm just so proud everyone came here to break the world record together," The Vindicator quoted university President Jim Tressel as saying during the event.
