Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Ahead of Halloween, Starbucks has unveiled the Zombie Frappuccino at its stores throughout the United States and Canada.

What is it?

"The Zombie Frappuccino blended beverage has a ghastly green body made with frappuccino crème infused with flavors of tart apple and caramel and topped with pink whipped cream 'brains' and red mocha drizzle," the retailer wrote on its website.

The creepy concoction became available on Thursday and can be ordered until Halloween on Tuesday "while supplies last."

Starbucks has celebrated Halloween since 2014, starting with the Franken Frappuccino blended beverage, followed by the Frappula Frappuccino in 2015 and 2016.

"When brainstorming a new frappuccino flavor for this Halloween, we started by thinking about a Halloween party and monster mash," said Jennica Robinson from Starbucks beverage development team. "We had already invited Frankenstein and vampires to the party, so we came up with another monster that could join the bash."

How did Starbucks come up with the flavor?

"We thought about what you'd serve at a Halloween party, and we settled on dipped caramel apples," she said. "It has a tart green apple favor balanced with a smooth, sweet caramel."

Depending on the market, a 12-ounce fall Zombie Frappuccino will run between $4.75 and $4.95

Also to get into the mood, Starbucks has a Halloween playlist of "fun and eclectic" ghosts, vampires, zombies and werewolves and spooky treats, including a vanilla Mummy Cake Pop and a Day of the Dead Cookie that is shortbread.
