Oct. 25 (UPI) -- A suburban Australia household called in the experts when they experienced some difficulty collecting their mail -- a deadly snake was blocking the way.

Snake catcher Rolly Burrell was called out to a home in the Adelaide suburb of Seaford Rise by residents who discovered their mailbox being guarded by a 4-foot eastern brown snake, a venomous serpent known as one of the deadliest in the world.

"A couple in Seaford Rise in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, were on their way out when they noticed the 4ft brown snake sun baking on their letter box," Burrell wrote.

He said catchers in the area are receiving an influx of calls about nuisance snakes because the reptiles are starting to wake up from their seasonal hibernation.
