"Aggressive turkeys are a problem in town," police tweeted. "State law doesn't allow the police or the ACO to remove them."

Experts said turkeys can become aggressive when they become accustomed to humans, usually through feeding. They said people targeted by the birds should attempt to startle them with noise, movements or squirting them with water.

Police recommended residents with turkey troubles contact the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for advice.
