Clumsy baby elephant faceplants on sandy road

Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A safari-goer in Botswana captured video of a clumsy newborn elephant taking a face-first dive into a sandy trail.

The video, captured during the summer, shows the baby elephant following its mother in the Jao Concession, Okavango Delta.

The pair of pachyderms come to the sandy road, which the mother easily walks over, but the baby slips up and face-plants on the ground.

The baby, apparently uninjured, picks itself up and trots over to its mother.

"While on safari in the Jao Concession, Okavango Delta, Botswana this newborn elephant still with umbilical cord attached to it came running with its mom," the filmer wrote. "Baby elephants, renowned for being clumsy -- it nose-dived straight into the sand. Luckily its mom was standing by though for some tender loving care."
