Baby Possum

Nigel Williamson of Nigel's Animal Rescue and Pest Control responded to a call on Tuesday night in Melbourne where he found a baby possum stuck in the drain of a resident's toilet.

"It's the first time in 30 years that I've ever heard of a possum coming up through the toilet system," Williamson said. "I've heard of rats before but never a possum."

The resident said the lid was closed and he suspected the baby possum somehow made its way up through the plumbing system.

Man searching for cellphone

Drammen Region Fire Brigade had to rescue a man who got caught in a portable toilet while trying to retrieve a friend's cellphone.

"I panicked because I hate confined space," Berntsen Larsen, 20, said. "It was... disgusting -- the worst I have experienced. There were animals down there too"

Firefighters ultimately had to cut him free, as he was "apparently slim enough to go down but not slim enough to come up again."

'Pot'-a-potty

A man in Oregon stumbled upon a portable toilet filled with marijuana plants while walking his dog one morning.

"Maybe somebody stashed it. Maybe they were transporting it somewhere illegally and maybe they stashed it or for somebody to pick up," Police Chief Ken Lewis.

Police took the plants from the toilet and loaded them onto a truck to be held for evidence.

Rat snake

Another rescuer grabbed a hold of the snake and it was eventually freed from the toilet and released back into the wild.

Package

Unlucky Englishman Sam Cooke arrived home to find a postal carrier had accidentally dropped a package in his toilet after attempting to slide it through a window.

"I'm really sorry," the mail carrier wrote in a note he dropped in after the package. "I think your parcel might have fallen in the toilet accidentally."

Cooke, 22, took the strange incident in stride, but did ask the Royal Mail to put him in contact with the mail carrier to prove the incident was not a hoax.

"There's honestly nothing to apologize for, the parcel is absolutely fine, gave me and thousands of others a good laugh that's all," he said.

Iguana

A woman in Florida called 911 after finding a 2-foot long iguana swimming in her toilet.

"This is the first time I've ever found an iguana in the toilet," Lt. Scott Mullin, of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Venom One unit, said. "I have no idea how it got there."

He speculated the iguana, which was relocated to a wildlife rescue center, may have somehow crawled up her pipes.

Squirrel

Texas woman, Amanda Boiles, filmed her husband rescuing a soggy squirrel from a toilet at a friend's home.

"He's slinging poop water on me!" her husband joked as he carried the squirrel out of the toilet.

Boiles' husband, dressed in his Sunday best, safely placed the soaking squirrel at the base of a tree before the couple made their way to church.

Woman's leg

Firefighters in China rescued a woman who had her leg trapped in a toilet for six hours.

Firefighters responded to the bathroom in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province and used various tools to set the woman's leg free.

After the lengthy rescue process the woman's leg was ultimately removed and she was not injured in the incident.

Gun

An Alaska gun owner used a long wooden board and a magnet to retrieve a gun that fell into a portable toilet.

The woman said she stopped to use the bathroom during a long day of taking wedding photos when her gun clip gave out while using the toilet causing it to plunge into the smelly abyss.

Her husband eventually used a magnet attached to a 2x4 to fish the gun out of the toilet the next day.

Secret Rave

Guests at the Sziget Festival in Budapest discovered a secret rave taking place inside one of the event's portable toilets.

"This is why I love Sziget, just open a random toilet and there is a secret party going on," festival goer Fabian Ruivenkamp said.

The rave was hidden behind a secret hallway hidden in a seemingly innocuous portable toilet.
