Oct. 12 (UPI) -- The owner's of the New Mexico residence that served as Walter White's home on Breaking Bad have erected a fence to keep out trespassers.

Joanne Quintana, whose mother owns the house that served as a setting for the AMC series, decided to install a 6-foot high wrought iron fence outside the home after years of vandalism, trespassing and rude behavior from fans of the show.

"We feel like we can't leave because when we do, something happens and that's ridiculous," she said.

Quintana said fans of the show come to visit the house in droves and have disrupted the property by stealing rocks as souvenirs and tossing pizza on the roof to recreate a memorable outburst from the show's main character portrayed by Bryan Cranston.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan rebuked pizza-tossing fans by saying there was "nothing original or funny or cool" about their stunts.

Gilligan's words did little to stop the behavior, as Quintana said countless fans still stop by the property and go to great lengths to look around the house and take photos.

"They feel the need to tell us to close our garage, get out of the picture, you know -- tell us what to do on our own property," she said.

The fence is set to be completed soon, but some trespassers have already attempted to sneak past the construction to get onto the property.

"We don't want to gate ourselves in," Quintana said. "We're the ones who's being locked up. We did nothing wrong."
