Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A Virginia man waiting for a tow truck in his disabled vehicle had his fortunes reverse when he checked his Powerball numbers and found he won $100,000.
Serkan Sarikaya said he was sitting in his vehicle after a breakdown and decided to pass the time while waiting for a tow truck by checking the numbers on the Powerball ticket he bought for the Oct. 4 drawing.
Sarikaya discovered he had matched four out of five numbers plus the Powerball number, which normally would have earned him $50,000 if not for the extra dollar he spent on the Power Play multiplier.
"It's so exciting," Sarikaya said.
Sarikaya said the money will go toward paying bills -- and, presumably, repairs to his vehicle.
