Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Authorities in Ohio said a drug raid that resulted in several arrests also included one highly unusual seizure -- an illegal alligator.

The Pike County Sheriff's Office said deputies, along with Waverly Police Department and Pike County Adult Probation, raided two properties in Beaver on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

The sheriff's office said one of the homes where they seized drug paraphernalia was also found to be sheltering an alligator.

It is illegal to keep alligators as pets in Ohio.

The alligator was turned over to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
