Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Railway officers in England made a bizarre rescue on Thursday after a swan found its way onto the tracks.

British Transport Police Euston said the wayward swan initially flew into the overhead cables before falling onto the tracks.

"Our officers had their very own Hot Fuzz moment when they rescued a swan that had flown in to the overhead cables," BTP said. "It then fell onto the tracks where officers and Network Rail staff saved it and handed it to the RSPCA safe and sound."

After the swan was rescued BTP officers wrapped it in a coat to and offered it a drink of water.

Network Rail suggested the officers name the swan "Swanny McSwanface" but they had a more dignified name in mind.

"I don't want to stick my beak in but a little birdie told me his full name is Sam Swanson," BTP's Twitter account said.
