Emily Turner was finishing up a KPIX-TV report on Marin County "fire lookouts" during the 5 p.m. news when her fiance, Daniel Bowen, appeared wearing a suit. Advertisement "What? What are you doing here?" Turner asked. In response, Bowen dropped to a knee. "Emily Elizabeth Turner, I'm in love with you. And I never knew love could be so grand until you came into my life. You're my best friend. You're my better half. I would love nothing more than for you to be my wife," Bowen said. Turner tearfully accepted the proposal. The segment cut back to the studio before Bowen's appearance, but the proposal was filmed and aired during the news later in the evening. KPIX-TV revealed anchors Allen Martin and Veronica De La Cruz were in on the plan and had coordinated with Bowen before the proposal. "I had no idea that was going to happen today. Everybody played it off so well!" Turner said.
