"I was driving home from church and the pig ran right out in front of my car," resident Jessica Howard told WRIC. "I slowly got out of my car, but the pig took off running."
One woman in the neighborhood suspected the pig is a neutered, male, pot-bellied pig and is {link:likely an abandoned pet.
Henrico Animal Protection has received multiple calls about the pig, as residents regularly gather to try to get a glimpse of the pig.
"It's kinda neat, it gives us something to do during the day and something to talk about, it's kind of like our neighborhood pet, I hope he stays around for a while," Howard said.
Some neighbors have been feeding the pig in hopes of catching it, but animal protection officer Lt. S.M. Sears warned residents to leave the pig wrangling to professionals.
"It is virtually impossible for anyone to chase and catch a pig that is free roaming," Sears told WWBT. "Our officers would be happy to discuss a potential plan of action with anyone in the area that would like to assist."
