Stolen blind goat returned to Canadian animal sanctuary

Sept. 14 (UPI) -- A blind baby goat was returned to an animal sanctuary in Canada on Wednesday, after she was stolen from the property.

The Farm Animal Rescue and Rehoming Movement in Alberta shared a photo of the goat, named Daisy, as they rejoiced her return.

"Never have we been so happy to see a goat eating leaves," the sanctuary said.

FARRM founder Melissa Foley told Global News she received a call from a neighbor who spotted Daisy down the road from the sanctuary in what appeared to be good health.

"My husband and I had gone out on a lead from an animal communicator, saying that she was a kilometer or so down the road," Foley said. "So we were searching frantically in the fields. We really believed, 'This is it, we're going to find this goat.' And sure enough, we were just getting ready to give up and get home and our neighbour called us."

Foley said it was apparent someone dropped Daisy off near the farm, as it had been raining that day but the goat remained dry.

"Daisy's OK. She doesn't seem any worse for wear - I don't think a hair on her head was harmed," Foley said.

Daisy was brought to the shelter in the spring without her eyesight and most of her tongue after being attacked by a crow shortly after she was born.

Foley offered a $10,000 reward hoping to ensure the prompt return of the young goat, which requires a strict regimen of medication and what she calls "goat yoga" due to her condition.

"I would like to thank the person who did end up coming to their senses and finding it in their heart to bring her back," she said. "I am eternally thankful that that decision was made and I can hold no judgment for any other action that took place prior to that."
