Sept. 13 (UPI) -- A safari-goer in Kenya captured footage of an impala doing "the impossible" by escaping from the jaws of a hungry crocodile.

The filmer explains in the video, posted to YouTube by Maasai Mara Sightings, that the crocodile had darted out of some water in the Maasai Mara National Reserve and latched onto the leg of the impala.

The footage shows the impala on the ground with the crocodile's jaws clamped down on its upper leg, putting the mammal in a seemingly mortal situation.

The croc attempts to adjust its grip, however, giving the impala an opening to kick it in the side of the head. The reptile's face moves sideways from the blow, giving the impala time to jump to its feet and run to safety.

The uploader said the impala did "the impossible" by escaping from the predator.

"Impala miraculously escapes from the deadly jaws of a crocodile," the video's description reads.
