Clever dog steals empanada during Chile TV broadcast

Sept. 12 (UPI) -- A hungry dog in Chile took the opportunity to nab a free snack from the set of a live television news broadcast.

Kurata TV journalist Sebastian Gonzalez on Sunday shared video of the clever dog sneaking up to a grill in the city of Andacollo to steal an empanada.

"In the middle of an interview a dog steals the empanada," Gonzalez said.

While the dog managed to slip by unnoticed at the time, Gonzalez spotted the theft after watching the video and laughed at the dog's resourcefulness.

Residents recognized the dog as "Orejon" one of many stray dogs known to roam the city, and brought attention to the issue of abandoned pets.

"Everyone laughed, but this is a complicated situation because some abandon their pets and they require care and care," one observer said.
