Sept. 12 (UPI) -- A man arriving for a showing of horror film It in England received a fright from the theater's sole other occupant -- a clown holding a red balloon.

Twitter user HG_Hohbes, aka Chris, posted a photo last week to the microblogging site, showing the clown sitting alone in the empty theater at Cineworld in Aldershot, England.

"Went to see IT, I'm first in the screen and this [expletive] guy's just sitting there," Chris wrote.

A second photo posted moments later shows the clown standing near the screen.

"Now he's wandering around," he wrote.

Chris said he was alone in the theater with the clown for about 10 minutes, but the initially creepy experience turned out OK.

"Had a chat to him, he's actually alright," Chris tweeted.

He said the clown did not stick around for the movie, of which he gave a glowing review.
