Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A man in an Indian village allowed himself to be lowered by the legs into a narrow well opening to rescue a lamb trapped inside.

The video, recorded in a village near the southern city of Vijayapura, shows a man going head-first down the narrow well opening while two other men hold him by the legs.

The man is unable to reach the lamb, which is further down in the well than they originally thought, so another man agrees to be lowered further into the claustrophobic space.

Three men hold tight to the rescuer's ankles as he is lowered deep into the hole before he is pulled back with the lamb.
