Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A Louisiana sheriff's deputy was recorded putting handcuffs on an alligator that managed to use its tail to slap a young boy in the face.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office said Deputy Brent Remondet responded to a spot in Reserve where an alligator hiding under a woman's vehicle nearly bit her on the foot while she was trying to get inside.

A video from the alligator's Sunday capture shows Remondet putting handcuffs on the reptile. A boy comes over to help the deputy, and the gator suddenly swings its tail and slaps the boy in the face.

The boy was not injured.

"Remondet did a great job capturing this nuisance gator, then he released it back into the wild in the Reserve Canal, away from residential areas," the sheriff's office said.
