Sept. 6 (UPI) -- A Maryland man who won nearly $17,000 from the lottery over Labor Day weekend said he won a $19,000 prize from the same game on the same weekend two years ago.

The 61-year-old winner, whose name was not released, told Maryland Lottery officials he usually plays the Pick 4 drawing, but will occasionally branch out to other dames when the mood strikes. The man said he decided to play Racetrax, a simulated horse racing game, during the Labor Day weekend.

"I'm a Pick 4 man, but certain numbers, when I see them, just stick in my mind," he said. "When I put enough of them together in my head, I get a ticket for a different game, like Multi-Match or Keno."

The man played the numbers 7,8, 10 and 11, and the virtual horses associated with those numbers ended up in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in the simulated race.

"When I went in to collect some of my Pick 4 winnings I checked the Racetrax ticket," he said. "The cashier told me it was a winner and then, after scanning it, showed me that is was for $16,742.50."

The man said the incident caused a curious case of deja vu.

"I was stunned, but it immediately dawned on me that it was Labor Day weekend two years ago when I'd won my biggest prize, Racetrax for $19,000. Everything had happened in almost exactly the same way at almost exactly the same time," he said.

The man said he plans to put his winnings into the bank, but a portion might go toward taking his wife on a vacation.
