Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A California man said he drove around for several weeks with an unscratched lottery ticket in his car that he later found out is worth $600,000.

Perry Sing told California Lottery officials he bought a few Scratchers tickets while on a trip to Big Bear and he subsequently forgot the tickets were in his center console.

"I don't play the Lottery often," Sing said. "I just saw the tickets and decided to buy them."

Sing said it was weeks later when he found and scratched off the tickets, which included the winning $1 Set for Life ticket.

"I saw 'Life' on the first ticket I scratched off and thought, 'This can't be right,'" Sing said.

Sing said he visited the lottery's website to determine the meaning of the ticket's message, and then took it to a store to double-check that it was indeed a winner.

"I took my ticket and walked out. I just tried to stay calm. Once I got in the car, I got excited," he said.
