Aug. 29 (UPI) -- A Phillipines burger chain's 8th anniversary celebration caused a frenzy as customers rushed into locations in search of cheap burgers.

Manila-based Zark's Burgers offered its first 80 customers a burger for 8 pesos, or 15 cents, to celebrate the restaurant's 8-year anniversary, but issued an apology after customers stormed the front door.

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience experienced by patrons and other mall shoppers unintentionally brought about by this celebration that was intended to thank all of you for 8 years of loyal support and patronage," the restaurant said.

Lines began to form outside the restaurants various locations throughout the Philippines as early as 7 a.m. as customers waited for the shops to open at 10 a.m., ABS CBN reported.

Once doors opened, hundreds of customers attempted to shove their way into the locations for the heavily discounted burgers.

"As I saw the running people and all their screaming, I changed my mind," Pauline Cabal Estrada told Mashable of the scene.

Zark's burgers has 29 stores throughout the Philippines and offered the promotion at each of its locations.

"We at Zark's Burgers express our deep gratitude for the mammoth response to our P8 for first 80 customers in-store promo to celebrate our 8th anniversary," Zark's said. "We would also like to thank all officers, mall managers and security teams for ensuring everyone's safety."
