Aug. 27 (UPI) -- A Houston taxi driver who stopped to pick up supplies for Hurricane Harvey ended up with an unexpected passenger -- a hawk seeking shelter from the storm.

William Bruso posted a video to YouTube showing the cooper's hawk that swooped into his taxi cab through an open door when he stopped to pick up supplies Friday.

Bruso said the raptor, which he dubbed Harvey the Hurricane Hawk, refused to leave his taxi, so he took it to his home to ride out the storm.

The taxi driver posted updates showing Harvey relaxing in Bruso's home, where he was offered water and some raw chicken hearts.

Bruso said Harvey stayed at his home until Saturday night, when the bird was picked up by Texas Wildlife Rescue Center personnel.
