Man scoops up handfuls of mosquitoes in massive Russian swarm

Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Russian man who came across a nightmare-worthy swarm of mosquitoes showed the size of the gathering by scooping the insects up like sand.

A video filmed Monday in Taganrog shows the man, who has no apparent fear of itching, bending over to scoop up handfuls of the mosquitoes covering the ground.

It initially looks like the man is merely scooping sand under a flying swarm, but a close-up reveals the ground is actually covered in a thick layer of the blood-sucking insects.

The man and his friend filming laugh as he gathers the mosquitoes into a huge buzzing mound.
