Aug. 24 (UPI) -- An Alberta driver's dashboard camera captured the moment an excavator being hauled by a semi truck collided with a low overpass, sending chunks of concrete flying.
The video, posted to Facebook Sunday by Shawn Kuehnemuth, shows a backhoe excavator on a flatbed trailer being hauled by a semi truck on Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton.
The excavator, taller than the clearance for the Whitemud Drive overpass, collides with the concrete bridge and sends chunks of concrete flying.
The truck finishes traveling under the bridge and stops up the road.
Kuehnemuth told CTV Edmonton there was a "big kaboom" at the moment of impact, but he did not have sound enabled on his camera at the time.
Alberta Transportation said the crash damaged five girders, but there were no structural safety issues with the bridge.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
