Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Aug. 23 (UPI) -- A Florida woman who spotted a "fat snake" slithering beneath her deck called in a wildlife expert who went under her house to catch the ball python. The resident summoned wildlife rescuer Bob Cross to her home in Chuluota, Seminole County, to capture what she described to WESH-TV as a "fat snake." Advertisement The woman said the serpent fled further under her home when her dog chased it. Cross said he was unable to reach the snake with his tongs, so he went under the house and captured the reptile using some safety gloves. Cross captured video of his encounter with the snake under the home. "How you doing, pal?" he asks the snake in the video. The rescuer said the snake was likely an escaped or abandoned pet. Ball pythons are native to sub-Saharan Africa, but unexpectedly finding one inside a Florida home is far from unheard of: Cocoa resident Juanita Tedesco said she was washing blankets belonging to her pet rat in May when she found a ball python trying to eat one of the blankets.
