Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A motor scooter driver watching his phone instead of the road in front of him plunged into a sinkhole that opened up in the middle of a street in China. Surveillance camera footage from the road in Beihai, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, shows the sinkhole opening up shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday in the middle of the road. Advertisement A man riding a motor scooter appears a few seconds later and is seem looking down at his phone instead of the road, causing him to ride directly into the hole. The man was able to climb out of the hole and did not sustain any serious injuries. The condition of his motorbike was unclear. The sinkhole reportedly measured 16 feet wide, 26 feet long and more than 6 feet deep.
