James Miller said he and friend Sam Shellabear were fishing a little over a mile west of Garden Island in Western Australia on Friday when the massive shark approached their boat. Advertisement Miller estimated the shark, which he captured on video, was up to 16 feet long. "It was swimming around the boat for almost half an hour and even took one of the fish we'd caught. It was pretty cool," Miller told The West Australian. He said the shark was the first great white he's encountered, and the largest shark he's seen in person. "It was pretty surreal," he said. "I can't really put into words what it felt like. I'd seen people encounter sharks like this on TV but until it happens to you, you don't have any real idea of what it was like. It was just so awesome." Read More Great white shark feasts on whale carcass next to tour boats Great white shark steals catch, leaps out of water
