Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A Texas police department said officers working the night shift were subjected to an additional struggle when a trespassing snake invaded their station.

Fulshear Police said officers on duty Wednesday night sprang into action when the suspicious serpent was spotted slithering across the floor of the station.

Police said it took some time, but the officers were able to capture the snake.

The reptile was released into a large field in front of the police station and left the premises without further incident, police said.

"Come on man! It's hard enough working the night shift, now we have to deal with snakes invading the police station?" the department said in a Facebook post.
