Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Aug. 14 (UPI) -- A Swedish man who spotted a rare white moose returned the next day and managed to capture video of the creature taking a dip in a local lake. Hans Nilsson said he has been trying to catch a glimpse of the rumored white moose -- sometimes known as an elk in Sweden -- in the Eda region for several years, but he never actually found one until last week. Advertisement Nilsson posted a video to Facebook showing his second encounter with the alabaster moose, one day after his original sighting. "This white elk bull is local to the area. I saw it the evening before too, that was the first time. On Friday evening when I shot the video everything fell into place, the location, the light and the calmness," Nilsson told The Local. "It was an experience to meet such a stately animal up close," he said. There are believed to be about 50 white moose in western Varmland. The animals are believed to receive their color from a genetic trait and are not albino.
