Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A bear has made itself at home in a California neighborhood, stopping for a dip in a resident's pool early Friday morning.

Residents say the bear was seen resting on the steps of a swimming pool of a Granada Hills residence at about 12:30 a.m., KABC reported.

The roughly 400-pound bear has become a fixture in the neighborhood, appearing three nights this week.

Police said the bear has not been aggressive and was previously seen walking along the sidewalk, where officers gently guided it to the nearby forest, CBS Los Angeles reported.

Local authorities said the bear hung around the home for about an hour as it scoured trash cans in search of a snack.

It eventually began to stroll around the neighborhood where authorities were able to lead it out to open space.
