Goose soars over British soccer game

Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A goose delighted soccer fans at a tournament in England by flying several laps around the stadium.

The Norwich City FC Canaries shared a photo of the majestic goose soaring above the crowd of their Carabao Cup match against the Swindon Town Robins at Carrow Road stadium.

"Eleven Canaries. Eleven Robins. One Goose," the team wrote.

The goose drew "the biggest cheer of the night" and prompted the crowd to perform the wave, as it flew three laps around the stadium.

Eventually the goose flew into a tunnel where a fan managed to wrap it up in a coat and carry it to safety.

Fans created a Twitter account for The Norwich Goose, thanking people for their support and hinting at a potential repeat performance.

"Glad to have made my debut at Carrow Road tonight, thanks for the welcome," the account said. "See you all on Sunday."
