D.C. man bought winning lottery ticket on Busch Gardens Williamsburg vacation

Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A Washington, D.C. man returned home from vacation with an extra million dollars after purchasing a winning lottery ticket during the trip.

Jonathan Jones stopped at a convenience store and bought the Powerball ticket while visiting Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. Upon returning to D.C., Jones learned he had won the game's $1 million second prize for matching the first five numbers on his ticket.

The Virginia lottery said Jones used the "Easy Pick" option, allowing a computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket.

His ticket was one of three nationwide to match the first five numbers and the only one in Virginia.

Jones, who works for a roofing company, said he doesn't have any immediate plans for how to spend his winnings.

The store where Jones bought the ticket will also receive a $10,000 prize for selling the winning ticket.
